Boys Soccer Season Recap

The Maynard Boys Varsity soccer team had a historically good season this year, coasting to a final record of 12-5-4, with a playoff berth in both the MIAA State Tournament and the Central Mass Tournament. The boys had a successful regular season, with a record of 10-4-2. Wins against rivals Bromfield, Littleton, and AMSA were high points of the regular season, and an away night game against Clinton on Clinton’s senior night, set them up for playoffs. The team entered playoffs with a #3 seed in Central Mass, and later a #5 seed statewide in Division 5, placing them as the fifth-ranked team out of 83 school districts. After a 2-0 win against Hopedale on Alumni field, the boys took on Bromfield in the semi-finals of the Central Mass tournament. After a tough battle, regulation time ended in a 2-2 draw, and Maynard would go on to lose in overtime against the 13-time state champions. In the State tournament, the boys won their first two games with a score of 2-1, against Neighborhood House Charter School, and Saint John Paul II High School. The boys’ season ended with a tough quarter-final game in Dorchester against #4 seed Boston International Charter School. Congratulations to the team on a successful season, and good luck to the underclassmen next year!
